Courses are scheduled throughout the year, and include whence through wide levels. The syllabus for each level has been created to teach the language to adults of all nationalities, using textbooks ripened by instructors at the Centre. Classes are small, with an stereotype of 4-8 participants in each course. All instructors at the Centre are language specialists who use methods whereby the individual learns Greek comfortably at all levels. Teaching methods emphasize spoken Greek, with parallel minutiae of reading, writing and comprehension skills. Language games and exercises, combined with textbooks and other materials, make the classes lively and interesting. Instructors are Greek nationals who speak English and several other languages; they combine a deep knowledge of Greek history and culture with a love of the language, and enjoyment of teaching. Two of the instructors have written and published widely-used Greek language textbooks, and others have written supplementary books to enrich the language program. Participants in the language courses are encouraged to develop an interest in many aspects of Greek life and culture. Extra materials are used in all classes, and include folk songs, literature and wares from newspapers and periodicals. Students receive Athens Centre certificates at the end of each successfully completed course. Extra events for students are planned on a regular basis, and include museum visits, art gallery walks, Greek flit sessions, and other activities. In wing to the Greek language classes at the Athens Centre, instruction is moreover serried for corporate groups, companies and other organisations on their site. In the past, the Centre has organised such programs with the American School of Classical studies, the American Embassy, Hochtief (builders and operators of Athens International Airport) and other companies. If your visitor or organisation is inteested in a tailor/made program, specially designed for your needs, please contact us at info@athenscentre.gr and we will be happy to discuss a program for you. These programs use the same teachers and teaching methodology as that used at the Athens Centre. Subscribe to the Mailing list NameFirstLastEmailCaptcha The Athens Centre offers Greek language courses from whence through wide levels. Each level (exceptWideNewspaper) consists of 60 hours of classroom instruction. Courses vary in intensity and duration, but all courses with the same level number imbricate the same materials. For example, a 12 week Greek I undertow meeting twice a week for 12 weeks covers the same matriculation material as a 3, 4, or 7 week undertow with the same level number. The types of courses offered are: Immersion 3 weeks 5 days a week 4 hours a day Accelerated 4 weeks 5 days a week 3 hours a day Intensive 7 weeks 3 days a week 3 hours a day Regular 12 weeks 2 days a week       2 1/2 hours a day Newspaper Conversation 5 weeks 2 days a week 3 hours a day For increasingly information on the Greek language schedules, visit our matriculation schedule page. HOLIDAYS MAKE – UP CLASSES Classes meet on all days indicated within the scheduled dates, except on public holidays. Classes are not re-scheduled to make up for lessons missed due to Greek public holidays.Undertowlevels are shown by numbers (I, II, III, etc) which indicate a progression from whence through wide levels. A detailed syllabus for each level is misogynist at the Athens Centre office, but a unenduring unravelment is as follows: Greek I: Basic Greek for beginners. Conversation, vocabulary, elements of grammar, reading and writing for those with little or no knowledge of Greek. Text: Ellinika Tora 1+1, ch. 1-7. See the Syllabus Greek II: A continuation from Greek I, with remoter vocabulary and grammar minutiae and resurgence of reading and writing skills. Text: Ellinika Tora 1+1, ch. 8-11. See the Syllabus Greek III: Intermediate Greek, accent on conversation, classroom discussion and presentations, increasingly wide grammar. Text: Ellinika Tora 1+1, ch. 12-15. See the Syllabus Greek IV:Matriculationdiscussions based on prescribed readings in textbooks and other materials, including newspaper articles; grammar review and development. Text: Ellinika Tora 2+2, ch. 1-6. See the Syllabus Greek V: Selected prose and poetry read and discussed, short essays assigned, completion of most aspects of grammar, wide-stretching matriculation discussions. Text: Ellinika Tora 2+2, ch. 7-11. See the Syllabus Newspaper / Conversation: A undertow based entirely on wares from the Greek  press, on selected topics in politics, business, the arts etc.,  Participants are expected to discuss the wares in wing to analyzing the style, idioms, and language quality. Students must have completed Level IV or above, and must have an oral interview with the instructor to join the class. Students who are unsure of which level they should join can have an oral interview with an instructor surpassing the matriculation begins. If a student finds that the level or intensity of the matriculation they have chosen is not correct, there is no problem moving to a variegated level or course.
